Winter days at the beach

Last week, Joey and I left Kevin for a few days and headed down to Santa Cruz. My dad (aka Papa) is recovering from knee surgery so we got to spend some great quality time with him. The weather was so beautiful that we went to the beach twice!

Joey and Papa on the Wharf checking out the sea lions

I forgot to bring my camera down to the beach, but was able to get a few pics on my phone. It was a "minus" tide, so all the tide pools were revealed. This is the best time to go to the beach, we got to squish sea anemones, touch starfish, find shells and splash in the tide pools.

The next day, we started off the day with a trip to the park (including our nephew, Thomas)

In the afternoon, I took all three boys to Capitola. We had such a good time (although, it would have been nice to have another adult with me since I had to cart all the kids and our stuff every time someone needed a bathroom break), I let the nephews slide down the big walls of sand, play in the water and get super wet and sandy...then finished the outing with an ice cream cone :)

Joey throwing sand, Thomas actually smiling for the camera and Sal wanting to do something else...it was a good attempt at a group shot

Joey loves the beach

Joey wanted to keep up with his cousins

Thomas trying to be a good cousin

He liked to find things to throw in the water

the big kids had fun sliding down the sand cliffs

Joey just enjoyed wandering the beach finding sticks and rocks

It was a great trip, Joey is at a great age to learn and explore so many things. We are lucky to have Yaya and Papa's house near the beach :)

Back at home, Joey discovered a fun new way to ride his bike

Toughy watched from the house

Bonus pic, finally uploaded pictures from Simpson Christmas on New Year's eve

Serious look of concentration trying to figure out his new phone
